Teaching with Technology Matrix
Purpose:
To develop a matrix that summarizes types and uses of a wide range of educational technology.
Task:
Working in groups (I suggest two groups of four, but you may have smaller groups if you prefer): Develop a matrix that synthesizes all that you have learned in this class (through in-class work as well as out-of-class readings and experiences) and your prior knowledge about the types and uses of different educational technology.
Checklist:
- Create a table format with the following columns:
- Categories of technology --> then break this down into subcategories (e.g. Category = multimedia applications. Sub-categories will include PowerPoint, Inspiration, AppleWorks and others)
- Description of what the technology can do (e.g. describe the tools within PowerPoint; individual slides that can contain text, charts, graphs, photos, music, hyperlinks to other slides, documents, and Internet links..etc)
- List and describe briefly examples of how the technology can be used as a tool to enhance teaching and learning.
- Research each type of technology (on the Internet and in the library) and:
- Including citations for every type of technology (i.e. go beyond just your own knowledge and research each).
- Include a reference list at the end of your document listing all references that you have cited throughout the document.
