Teaching with Technology Matrix

Purpose:

To develop a matrix that summarizes types and uses of a wide range of educational technology.

Task:

Working in groups (I suggest two groups of four, but you may have smaller groups if you prefer): Develop a matrix that synthesizes all that you have learned in this class (through in-class work as well as out-of-class readings and experiences) and your prior knowledge about the types and uses of different educational technology.

Checklist:

  1. Create a table format with the following columns:
  2. Categories of technology --> then break this down into subcategories (e.g. Category = multimedia applications. Sub-categories will include PowerPoint, Inspiration, AppleWorks and others)
  3. Description of what the technology can do (e.g. describe the tools within PowerPoint; individual slides that can contain text, charts, graphs, photos, music, hyperlinks to other slides, documents, and Internet links..etc)
  4. List and describe briefly examples of how the technology can be used as a tool to enhance teaching and learning.
  5. Research each type of technology (on the Internet and in the library) and:
  6. Including citations for every type of technology (i.e. go beyond just your own knowledge and research each).
  7. Include a reference list at the end of your document listing all references that you have cited throughout the document.
