How to upload from a Mac to your AUFS account
(by Helen Rallis)
Purpose
The purpose of these guidlines is to guide you in saving your
work from a Mac computer in one of the UMD computer labs to your UMD student
AUFS account(your personal file space on the Hard Drive In The Sky!)
Steps:
After every class session you should back up your work onto your UMD Aufs account
.
- Click on the Apple (top left corner of your screen) and select "Chooser."
- Click on the AppleShare icon
- In the list of AppleTalk Zones, click once on UMD-MWAH
- In the right hand box, under "Select a file server" click on "AUFS"
- Click the "OK" button.
- A box will pop up asking you for name and password. Next to "Name"
type in your login (e.g. hrallis) & next to "Password"
type in your e-mail password. Click the "OK" button.

- A box appears asking you to select the items you want to use. Select the
item labeled with your login and Aufs. Click "OK"
- An icon will appear on the desktop showing your Aufs file. You can now save
any documents you wish from the desktop or your disk to this Aufs file. Do
so by dragging the file from the source (desktop or disk) to the Aufs icon
and then dropping in into the Aufs file. This makes a copy of the document
to your Aufs file.

- IMPORTANT: when you are done, drag the Aufs icon to the trash. If you don't
do this, anyone can get into your Aufs account.
