Step-by-step guidelines for basic (free) version of Webspawner webpage.
- Go to http://www.webspawner.com
- Click
on the box called "Create Webpage."A page will appear with step-by-step
guides for creating your page.
- In the Step 1: Headline box --> type a headline. This will be the headline
of your web page as well as the headline
on the
page.
- For Step 2: Background --> this enables you to select
a background from 7 choices. [HOWEVER: what you are not told until later
on is that this option is only available if you choose to pay $4.95 per month
for an enhanced web page. Thus (for now) skip this option].
- For Step 3: Body Text --> Type in a body text. This will appear as a paragraph
of text in the body of the webpage.
- For Step 4: Link List -->Enter links on the link
list that will appear on your website.
- For Step 5: Email --> Type in your email address. This will
make a “mail
to” link
- For Step 6: Image -->
This enables you to insert an image. [HOWEVER, as with background, what you are
not told until later on is that this option is only available if you choose
to
pay
$4.95
per month
for an enhanced web page. Thus (for now) skip this option].
- For Step 7: Account name and Password --> Type in an account name and
password. You will need this later to edit your site.
- Click on the green "test my webpage" button --> this will bring up a test
page showing you what your page looks like. If you like your page as
it is, click on the "I like it" button to confirm what you have
created. If you don't like what you see or want to add additional parts to
the page, click on the "let's modify it" button. Then make the changes
and click on the "I like it" button.
- For Step 8: Webpage Information --> entering this information is optional.
It provides information about your site to search engines.
- Once you have clicked on the "I like it" button, you are taken to another
window that asks you:
- (a) if you want to have the basic (free) version of the
webpage or pay $4.95 per month for an enhanced web page. With the
basic version all you can insert on your page is a header, body text,
and links
(plus have
24 hour access to your page to edit and update it).
- (b) if you want to have a pop-up banner or banner at the top of the
page (for advertising -- this is what pays for the webpage -- nothing
is really "free"!! The cost to you is to have intrusive advertising
on your page. Our advice is to select the pop-up version as users can
click this closed so they don't have to look at it (whereas the banner
stays as part of your page)
- Once you have made your selection of free or paid version and selected
your banner type, click on the update button --> this will bring up a page
confirming your update and telling you the URL of your webpage. It also lists
a variety of further options available (for future reference).
