Measuring Shortwave Radiation

trs trs

Shortwave radiation (sunlight) is the main source of heat to a lake. In the absence of clouds, we can use geometry to predict how much sunlight there should be at a given place, at a given time- that's the blue curve. The red curve is the actual measured signal- the difference is due to cloud cover.
