Free Lesson!

"The best things in life are free..."

Choosing a college or university to study music can be a difficult choice. With all of the possibilities and options you have as a prospective college music student, it's important that you make an informed decision. After all, you will be spending the next several years of your life at that institution, so it's wise to make the right decision.

One thing that sets your bassoon teacher apart from every other teacher you will have in the pursuit of your degree is that you will be taking classes (lessons) with your applied music teacher the entire time you are enrolled in your music degree. Unlike your classroom teachers, who you will see only one, or perhaps two semesters of your college career, you will see your bassoon teacher once a week for the duration of your musical study.

I believe it is important to understand what type of personality, teaching style and experience a teacher has, as well as their expectations for you as a student. Because of this belief, I am more than happy to arrange a free private lesson for you in my studio on the UMD campus. To take advantage of my offer, you simply have to call and arrange a lesson day and time with me, and we will then discuss what materials you should prepare for the lesson. In fact, if you time it right, you can arrange your lesson to be within a week of your scholarship audition. It is an opportunity for you to understand what will happen in the audition, and what I am looking for in a student. You will be more prepared to make an informed decision about your bassoon study, and I will have the opportunity to hear you play in a slightly more relaxed setting than an audition.

To contact me to arrange a lesson on the UMD campus, please call my office at 218-726-8119. You may also contact me via e-mail, if you wish by clicking on the "Contact" link at the bottom of this page. If you live within the Duluth/Hermantown/Superior region, I would also be happy to arrange a lesson in your town, possibly at your high school (with your band director's permission, of course!).

I look forward to hearing from you!
