1.      How does adaptive plasticity differ from transgenerational adaptive plasticity?

2.      Why are adaptive maternal effects more likely to evolve than adaptive paternal effects in this system?  Is this likely to be true for other plant or animals species?

3.      What are the essential conditions that must be met in order for adaptive maternal effects to evolve? How were each of the points above demonstrated in this study?

4.      Figure 1 shows that offspring who were raised in the same light environment as their mother had higher fitness than if they were raised in the alternate light environment for annuals and biennials grown in the light gap.  Why was it necessary to do the extra modeling of population growth rate shown in figure 2?

5.      Is all plasticity adaptive?
