How DataDirt
Was Started and Where We Are Going
In the beginning:
DataDirt was started in 2003, as Mike Ackerman's new hobby. In the
beginning it was just a F-550 dump truck which handled small weekend
jobs hauling dirt, rock, or whatever would fit in the dump box.
Once word was spreading and business started picking
up, he needed to come up with a name, the name he chose was DataDirt.
The name Datadirt was formed from the simple idea of Mike dealing
with dirt while Susan (Mikes wife) dealt with the data and paperwork,
the name DataDirt was tossed out there and it stuck.
2004:
In 2004 a Bobcat and heavy duty trailer were added to the fleet,
which helped make the business be more universal. Now not only could
Datadirt haul loads to the jobsite's but they could spread them
around.
2005:
In 2005 with the additional work that the Bobcat was bringing in
a larger dump truck was needed. A 1989 Volvo dump truck was added
to the lineup, which would haul large loads when necessary. The
Volvo was purchased and shipped from Florida to Minnesota, when
the truck arrived the sides of the box and doors said "Florida
Trucking" on them with palm trees. This was around the same
time Mike and Susan were coming up with a logo, and these palm trees
were incorporated into it.
The Volvo was traded in shortly after its purchase
for a more reliable, brand new Kenworth dump truck. After the new
dump truck was bought the Bobcat was traded in for a larger, more
heavy duty CASE skid steer.
2006:
In 2006 another brand new top of the line Kenworth dump truck was
added to the fleet. DataDirt has become a lot more than just a hobby
business and has grown into a very respectable, trustworthy, dedicated,
and profitable family run business.
Future of DataDirt:
The future for DataDirt is very bright, the business keeps on growing
and expanding. With the addition of more trucks and drivers, DataDirt
will be able to satisfy more of their future customers.
