Biography of Judy Trolander

She was born and raised in Minneapolis, and has lived in Cleveland, Ohio: Los Angeles, California: on Minnesota’s Iron Range, and Macomb, Illinois. She has also taught a semester in UMD’s Birmingham, England programme.

Education: Ph.D. and M.A. in history and M.S. in Library Science, all from Case Western Reserve University; B.A. in history, University of Minnesota
Awards and fellowships: National Endowment for the Humanities, Collections of the St. Louis County Historical Society; N.D.E.A. Title IV Fellowship

Her current research is on the development of age restricted, active adult retirement communities such as Sun City, Arizona. She is currently in the midst of a split sabbatical (on leave fall 2005 and fall 2006).

During her free time, she likes to visit her property on Cokato Lake, about 50 miles west of Minneapolis.
