The mission of the Department of Communication
Sciences & Disorders (CSD) is to prepare
undergraduate and graduate professional personnel in the
delivery of clinical services to individuals requiring
supportive patient care. This mission is accomplished
through utilization of a clinical training model in which
skills and competencies of concern include those related
to prevention, assessment, habilitation, and
rehabilitation of disease or disorder. In addition, the
CSD department accepts an obligation to give particular
attention to the clinical health care needs of the region
in its research, outreach, and service programs in
communication disorders.
