The Selection Process for the Muse

Shortly after the submission deadline one person is assigned the task of collecting all submitted works and creating a register of submission, which includes a list of names for all the people that submitted, the titles of their works, and a coded number for each work.

This number is attached to each work so that when we read and vote on each work we do not know who the author is. When all works have been voted on, the votes are tallied and a total score is attached to each work's coded number. Thus, the work is judged solely on its content. The person who creates the register of submissions is not involved with the voting process.

We try very hard to preserve the integrity of our magazine. We set up our selection process so that no one person will receive special treatment with regards to getting published. All works are selected in a fair and democratic process. The people involved in the selection process come from a variety of backgrounds, and this ensures that works from every genre are given fair consideration.
