What do you need to
do to enter the Secondary Education Program?
The paperwork can be picked up in the
Education Department, Montague 120, from secretary, Linda Witzke.
Before you submit the application
- You must confer with your peer advisor
or advisor
- You must have taken Educ 1101--Education
in Modern Society
- You must have completed 15 hours worth
of volunteer work with children and/or youth
- You need to obtain an APAS form from
the information desk at "the wedge"
- You must have taken , but do not need
to pass, the PPST test prior to the stated application deadline
- If you have not passed all 3 sections
of the PPST, you must meet additional requirements stated on
the application form
- Your overall and major GPA must be
only 2.5 or better, but by the time you student teach, you must
have either a 3.0 overall or a 3.2 in your major
- You must attach a current, unofficial
transcript to your application with all courses that apply to
your major highlighted
- You must attach to your transcript
a personal essay - "Why I Want to Be a Teacher"
- You need to sign the consent form for
placement and student teaching files
