In Orwell's Animal Farm, we learned the dangers of having a population that isn't informed of what their governing body is up to, and how doublespeak can be used to mislead and manipulate information. This can happen in today's media as well. Journalists are regular people just like you and me. And regular people have biases, whether they want to admit it or not. While it is impossible to eliminate bias all together, we can become critical readers and understand that the news is not necessarily black and white. |
