Requirements > Attendance
“Since MAPL learning is collaborative, with students acting as both students and co-teachers, the general expectation is that everyone make their best effort to be at every class. MAPL treats student absences in the same way it treats faculty absences, i.e. there are some situations—illness, major family events, highly unusual and one-time job requirements—for which an absence cannot be avoided. But beyond such events, students are generally expected to be a part of the learning community.
“Classes meet 11 times each semester. Students are expected to notify faculty before they need to miss a class. If three or more classes are missed in a semester it’s often a sign of major difficulties and discussions quickly ensue concerning possible remedial action.” |
