MAPL Students in class “The University of Minnesota Duluth requires completing 32 credits to receive a Masters Degree. The MAPL program is structured to have 27 classroom credits and 5 internship credits.

Classroom credits may be obtained by attending classes scheduled for Friday evenings and Saturdays. Students will be able, at a maximum, to take 9 credits in one semester. At a minimum, students will be required to take 3 credits each semester, which is the “core” course, offered each Saturday morning and is open to members of the Cohort only. There are four “core” courses, one offered to each cohort in each of the four semesters required to complete the program.

Most MAPL students so far have done virtually all of their classroom credit requirements utilizing the classes offered by MAPL on weekends in Duluth. Classes from other schools and programs can be accepted, as long as an agreement about the appropriateness of the proposed outside class is obtained before the class is undertaken.

MAPL’s internship program is an important part of obtaining a degree. Students are expected to complete one 2-credit and one 3-credit internships. Forty-five hours of student time is required for each credit. For more information click on Internships.
