Suzanne Bonomo is the Program Administrator and Student Advocate for the MAPL program.Suzanne works with faculty, students and guest speakers behind the scenes at MAPL. She develops marketing and recruiting strategies, coordinates classes and guest speakers, advises and assists MAPL students. She is also the catalyst between the MAPL program and the University Administration.
She came to UMD after working for the University of Wisconsin system where she served as a Program Associate in Nonprofit and Human Resource Management. She also was the coordinator for Northwoods Nonprofits, an educational initiative that worked with area nonprofits in board training and capacity-building. Suzanne also provided administrative support for Leadership Superior-Douglas County.
Prior to entering the realm of higher education, Suzanne worked for eight years in the public school systems as both a teacher and a teaching assistant. It was during this time that she completed her teaching crendentials and certification in Wisconsin.
Suzanne is committed to making positive contributions to her community. Since coming to Duluth, she has served as a Teen Parent Advocate at Life House, a drop in center for at-risk and homeless youth. She has also volunteered for the Duluth Public Schools, neighborhood housing initiatives and local political campaigns.
