
About UMD's Bridge Programs :
The University of Minnesota - Duluth and Twin Cities created the Bridge programs to increase the number of American Indian/Alaska Native scientists. The Baccalaureate Bridge is currently offered at the U.M.D campus.

UMD and Duluth Area :
UMD is a medium-sized comprehensive university serving northern Minnesota, the state, and the nation as a university dedicated to excellence in all its programs and operations. UMD has five undergraduate colleges, School of Business and Economics, College of Education and Human Service Professions, School of Fine Arts, College of Liberal Arts, College of Science and Engineering.
The Baccalaureate Bridge is designed for undergraduate science students. Goals of the Baccalaureate Bridge are:
1. To assist students by enriching the science curriculum at the tribal community college level. Focus will be on research experiences in labratories at UMD. Additional enrichment courses are offered at UMD.
2. Promote American Indian and Alaska Native education by exposing students to scientists and lab environment.
3. Provide cultural support through the American Indian Learning Resource Center.

4. Valuable experience by attending national meetings and teaching courses to American Indian students at local tribal colleges; as well as participating in industrial internships.
