Task Three: Writing a Multi-genre

Now that we have looked at the many perspectives that a single issue or event can take, it's time for you to create your own interpretation of a historical event.

For Task Three you will create a multi genre paper.

1. Learn about the multi-genre paper. It is unlike many research projects you have done in the past. The purpose of this paper is to show the multiple perspectives of an event. You will use many fiction and non-fiction genres to convey these perspectives to your audience. While we have talked about the multi genre paper in class this is an opportunity to see how it actually works.

Check out some great examples.

This is a good site that answers alot of questions about the multi-genre paper and also specifically addresses the issues of how to site a multi-genre paper. Keep in mind THIS IS NOT YOUR ASSIGNMENT. Use the information of webquests but you need to full fill the checklist for your assignment.

2. Now that you have a good idea of what the final product will be, it's time to start organizing. There are literally thousands of genres in the world. For this paper we will be focuses on non-fiction genres.

Compile of list of 15 possible genres that you could do for you topic. Compare your list with that of a neighbor. Brainstorm together to come up with as many unique genres as possible.

3. Now that you have your list. Look at your research. What information you could convey in each of these genres. Perhaps that info on soldiers killed at Gettysburg could be in the form of a telegram to Lincoln. Look at your information and genres. You can use more than one piece of information in each genre.
