OBJECTIVES
This assignment is the culmination of your work throughout the semester, in which you remind the audience of
the problem you set out to solve, analyze the findings of your primary and secondary research, and recommend
a solution (or solutions) to the problem.
REQUIREMENTS
Required components of the A&R are a title page, letter/memo of transmittal, table of contents, list of
illustrations, executive summary, introduction, body, conclusions, recommendations, and works cited. At least one
visual aid is required. A glossary or appendices may also be necessary. A sample formal report can be
found in Writing that Works.
Remember that your A&R must include internal citation in addition to the Works Cited list, and that both must be in MLA format. The minimum number of sources is about five, but remember that at least one source must be primary (such as an interview) and at least one source must be secondary (books/articles etc.).
LENGTH
The A&R report (including front and back matter) should be 15-20 pages long. All portions of the A&R except the Letter/Memo
of Transmittal and the Works Cited should be double-spaced.
