Role
Play Observation Papers
Each student will sign-up to be an “observer” of
one of the role-play presentations.
Students who are doing organization role-plays should be observers for
community or legislative role-plays and vice versa. This paper (approximately two pages long)
should be designed to provide constructive feedback to the students who made
the presentation and demonstrate an understanding of practice skills used and
the relevant mezzo or macro practice issues raised in the role-play. Students should apply content from class
readings to their observation/discussion/analysis of the role-play
presentation.
Prior to the class session, observers should
develop a skills check-list that that they will use to evaluate the
presentation. They will provide this to
the instructor and the students they observed, as well as, a short evaluative
summary.
Grading of this 5-point assignment will be as
follows:
* Provides constructive feedback and suggestions
for improvement (2 points)
* Evaluation checklist is provided which
incorporates skills discussed in readings/ class (3 points)
Please
provide copies of your paper to the students who conducted the role-play and to
the instructor by March 17 for an
organization observation and May 5 for a community observation.
