MINOCQUA,
WI - The 2004 Central Division Nordic SES was conducted
at Minocqua Winter Park and Nordic Center on January 10th and 11th, with an
optional telemark clinic the next day. Four members from the
Western Region participated in the event: Martin Fahje, Bob Hart, Dave
Squires, and Peter Wollan. Saturday was devoted to instruction by
Jeff Schmidt, CD Nordic Supervisor and PSIA member, and included evaluation
of 2 basic patrollers from Wisconsin and senior Nordic candidate, Dave
Squires. Sunday was spent with Dan Claussen, PSIA Nordic Demo
Team, refining both diagonal stride and skating techniques. Despite less than perfect snow conditions, all would agree the seminar was a valuable learning experience. Lastly, congratulations to Dave for passing his senior Nordic ski proficiency requirement; making him Western Region's newest senior Nordic patroller!
