Clothing Safety:

The University of Minnesota prohibits the wearing of sandals, shorts and short skirts in its laboratories. Shorts may be worn if a long lab coat covers bare legs.

Lab Sections and Schedules
The first week, students should check in and form lab groups of two.
Lab groups should sign up on the schedule of experiments that will be posted in the lab.

Books and Supplies:

  • There is no printed laboratory manual. Rather, download the the instructions (pdf format) for each lab from this web site. If you are prompted for a username and password, use your UMD username and password.
  • Physical Chem Lab CHEM 4633 Lab Instructions
  • A laboratory notebook is recommended for the orderly and reliable recording of data.
  • Safety goggles are required.
  • A flash drive on which to save data may be helpful.
  • Lab reports are due in the webdrop folder one week after the last week that the experiment is scheduled, by midnight. Points will be deducted from late reports. No reports will be accepted after the last week of lab. Download instructions for lab reports.
  • Grading:     times pts ea points  
      Written report 6 20 120 -3 points per week or part of week late.
    No reports accepted after lab check-out day.
