This activity is designed to teach students how to identify minerals by using physical properties of minerals. This will be done by simple observation and testing procedures. The following is a list of the materials you will need:

Glass Plate (PM will supply)

Streak Plate (unglazed white porcelain) (PM will supply)

Penny

Magnet (PM will have a few)

Small pocket knife

Hand lens (if available)
