Paper for Second Presentation (Week of April 21-23)
(This will really vary with the type of mineral that you were assigned--but it should have the following information.)
Introduction: This should state the mineral that you chose to present and why it can be unhealthy
Mining and Production--this will apply if we mine it as an ore, by-product, or simply waste
Processing of the Ore --If we don't mine the mineral on purpose, e.g. it is waste that occurs during the processing of the associated ore, you should explain how it is removed from the ore.
Health Issues
Recommendation on how best to avoid this mineral--are there substitutes? How can we handle remediation of this mineral? How can we change the type of mining? processing?
Summary
References
The paper should be ten double-spaced typed pages including any tables of data or diagrams. Remember that you MUST cite your references. You may use the system you used in Freshman Composition, or you may use a number system. Simply number your first reference cited in the paper as #1 and continue from there. Everytime you cite something from this resource, use (1) in parentheses. At the end of the paper you list the references in numerical order. If you use a direct quote, it must be single spaced and put in quotation marks.
