Course Grading
| I. | 4 Exams (200 points)
- Each exam is worth 50 points and will be multiple choice from textbook, lecture and online lessons. Exams will be administered during class time. |
| II. | Online Quizes (90 points) - Hybrid lessons (Mondays) will include a 10 point quiz (except the Mondays following a unit exam - total of 11 Mondays). Quizes will be taken online via WebVista, will be multiple choice from your textbook and will be timed. You are to take them by yourself but may refer to your textbook and notes if time allows (15 minutes for each quiz). The two lowest quiz scores will be dropped (or can be missed without penalty-see make-up policy above) |
| III. | Hybrid Learning Assignments (65 points) - By desgin of the Psychology Department, Psy 1003 is a hybrid course. One day per week students will be learning outside of the classroom using an online environment. This will include an online lesson each Monday, with a written assignment or discussion to be handed in for 7 of the lessons (each worth 5 or 10 points) using Moodle. Students are divided into online learning communities of approximately 20 students each. Each group will have a TA. Students will be expected to spend class time on Mondays on the online assignments. Assigments will be accepted no later than class time the next day (Tuesday). Feel free to work ahead!! |
| V. | Outside Experience Requirement (20 points)- By department policy, students MUST complete four outside experience opportunities (worth up to 5 points each) throughout the semester to be handed in during four checkpoints during the semester. While students are encouraged to hand outside experiences in throughout the term, the checkpoints indicate the last date work will be accepted. Exceptions are students engaging in Service. See Outside Experiences for options and instructions. Students may choose to complete two additional outside experiences for extra credit. |
| VI. | Opportunities for x-tra credit (up to 20 points) -Students will have two opportunities to earn extra credit in this course: a) Through participation in additional outside experience options (limit of 2/10 points), and b) Through completion of the cumulative post test during finals week. |
| Total Possible Points = 375 | |
Excused Absences: Students are expected to attend all scheduled class meetings. It is the responsibility of students to plan their schedules to avoid excessive conflict with course requirements. However, there are legitimate and verifiable circumstances that lead to excused student absence from the classroom. These are subpoenas, jury duty, military duty, religious observances, illness, bereavement for immediate family, and NCAA varsity intercollegiate athletics.
