Course Description: Transpositions, voicings, and arranging concepts for large jazz ensemble; development of composition in jazz idiom.
Goals: Develop the skills and knowledge required to arrange for large and small instrumental jazz ensembles.
Supplies: Pencils (NO PENS!!), eraser, staff paper, 3 ring binder.
Requirements: Provide two arrangements, one of which will be for small jazz combo and one for jazz big band. Complete daily assignments in a timely fashion. Be present for class.
Grading: Attendance – 10% First three unexcused absences.
Daily Assignments – 20%
Arrangements – 70%
Final: Wednesday, December 18, 12:00 – 1:55 pm. As Needed.
