MU 1505/4505 Jazz Ensemble I

| Objectives: | Reinforce jazz style, techniques, improvisation and ensemble playing by sight reading, rhythm reading, listening, preparing jazz literature and performing. |
| Requirements: | Each student is expected to come to each rehearsal
with assigned parts learned.
Attendance is mandatory!! Each unexcused absence will result in a drop of a letter grade. A missed dress rehearsal or performance will result in an F for the semester and dismissal from the ensemble. Each member of this ensemble will be expected to work for the Head of the Lakes Jazz Festival which will be on March 6th and setup on March 5th. |
| Grading: | Grading is based on individual preparation of music, attendance and in class participation. |
| Sectionals: | 2-3 per concert. 1 hour. Time will be compensated for at the end of the semester. |
Dress Rehearsals: |
Two consecutive rehearsal days prior to each performance. |
