Ulrich’s Periodicals Directory
This resource is both in print and online. The print version is behind the reference desk on the 2nd floor of the library.
To get to the electronic version:
1. Go here: http://www.d.umn.edu/lib/
2. Click “databases”
3. Click “U”
4. Click on “Ulrich’s Periodicals Directory”
Once you are in the online resource, you can easily search for a magazine by title. Then, once it comes up, be sure to use the tabs, which give you:
Basic Description (including the year it started, circulation figures, price, frequency, etc.);
Other Editions and Formats (like electronic, microfilm);
Abstracting and Indexing Services (places that people can use to access it);
Publisher Info (incl. how to order it);
Advertiser Info (including readership demographics);
Reviews (actual reviews of the magazine). Note that the “Reviews” section can give you a lot of information. If you want a review, be sure to click the “Find It” button to possibly jump to the actual full review in another database.
In addition to searching for a specific magazine, you might also want to do an
Advanced Search specifying the
Subject and a range of
Circulation Figures.
