Policies re. Exams
in Professor Chilton's Courses
Various exam policies:
- No one is permitted to take an exam after the first person leaves the
examination room. This policy applies regardless of whether a
make-up exam is permitted and regardless of the reason you are late. It's your responsibility
to get yourself to the exam.
- I do not give make-up exams for exams which contain multiple choice
questions. They're simply too hard to prepare. This is
not to imply that I will necessarily give make-up exams for other forms
of exam.
- I may excuse students from an exam if they negotiate this
in advance with me and provide appropriate supporting documentation
if required.
- I may excuse students from an exam even without prior agreement if
they have a reasonable excuse, one supported by documentation. "Reasonable"
and "supported by documentation" are according to my judgment.
- Excused exams will simply not be counted in the final average. (In
other words, for the mathematicians among you, they will be treated
as if they had a weight of 0.) They won't count for you, they
won't count against you. If the exam turns out to have been a
really easy one that everyone else got an A on, that's just the luck
of the draw. Ditto if you miss a really hard exam that everyone
else failed.
