New: Open graduate position in physics and biogeochemistry of lakes

Research projects:

  • Modeling of the biogeochemical cycling in Lake Superior. Reaction-transport modeling of sediment processes. Coupling of the sediment model to a hydrodynamic model (UROP, M.Sc., Ph.D.).
  • Nutrient dynamics in aquatic bodies. Phosphorus releases from lake sediments, their predictions and long-term management. A comprehensive look at the P cycling in lake sediments using modeling and field studies, with the objective of developing decision-support approaches (M.Sc., UROP).
  • Methane bubbles and fluxes in lake sediments (UROP, M.Sc.).
  • Limitation of microbial methabolisms by diffusion in porous media. (M.Sc.)
  • Hydrodynamic modeling of a tropical Lake Matano, Indonesia using the Elcom model (UROP).
  • Thermodynamic approach to sediment geochemistry. Predictions of sediment characteristics, such as the depth of oxygen penetration, from first principles.
