Funding through research grants and teaching assistantships available for the following projects:

  • Determination of diffusion rates in the sediment of Lake Superior using fluorescent and micro-solid tracers, in presence vs. absence of sediment organisms (UROP).
  • Spectrophotometric mesurements of dissolved Fe(II) in porewaters of Lake Superior sediments (UROP).
  • Building and testing of a system for measuring dissolved CO2 (UROP).
  • Modeling of the biogeochemical cycling in Lake Superior. Reaction-transport modeling of sediment processes (UROP, M.Sc., Ph.D.).
  • Predictions of the depth of oxygen penetration into aquatic sediments, derived from the first principles (UROP, M.Sc.).
  • Development of the graphical user interface for the biogeochemical sediment simulator LSSE-Mega (UROP).
