Professional Interests
Stacey Stark, MS, GISP, is Director of the Geographic Information Sciences Laboratory (GISL) in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Stacey Stark's research involves geographic information analysis in regional sustainability applications; including land-use and transit planning, rural community sustainability, renewable resources, and foodshed assessment and analysis. Stark has expertise using US Census data, Esri Community Analyst and Business Analyst, network analysis, raster analysis, and geocoding addresses. The Geographic Information Sciences Laboratory conducts both internal and external services as well as grant activity. Stark educates faculty in the uses of GIS in many disciplines, and promotes the use of GIS in UMD research and in student curriculum. In 2008, Stark received a UMD Outstanding Service Award for the Direction of this activity.
