Professional Interests
Stacey Stark, MS, GISP, is Director of the Geographic Information Sciences Laboratory (GISL) in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Her research involves geographic information analysis in regional sustainability applications; including land-use and transit planning, rural community sustainability, renewable resources, and foodshed assessment and analysis. The Geographic Information Sciences Laboratory conducts both internal and external sales as well as sponsored activity to maintain the lab and to support projects that provide students with hands-on GIS experience. Stark educates faculty in the uses of GIS in many disciplines, and promotes the use of GIS in UMD research and in student curriculum. In 2008, Stark received a UMD Outstanding Service Award for the Direction of this activity.
