Senior Design I – Course Deliverables

For a Design Team of 3 Members:

  1. All team members will be expected to keep a ‘project notebook’ that contains the relevant research materials acquired to support the design.  The notebook can be in an electronic format.
  2. All team members will be expected to maintain weekly communication with the design advisor.
  3. The team as a whole will be expected to deliver 3 term papers to the advisor.

IMPORTANT:  All papers must be submitted in draft form, two weeks prior to the end of the semester, for review and comment by the design advisor.  Final drafts due the last day of the semester.

    1. Proposal:

The proposal will be written as if in response to the RFP.  As such, it must state with detail and confidence the reasons your design will meet the criteria as stated.  The proposal should contain all the detail necessary to show your design will meet the criteria (and nothing more!).  The proposal must contain a bid price and an estimated delivery schedule.

Length:  3 – 5 pages

    1. Project Specification:

Specification must be as precise as possible.  It needs to describe the Bill of Material, break the project into understandable parts, identify industry standards that impact each part (and the project as a whole), estimate the man-hours necessary to complete and the cost.

5 – 10 pages

    1. Project Timeline:

The timeline is graphical in nature, depicting all the critical steps necessary to complete each part (sub-assembly) and the project as a whole.  It will identify the person responsible for each step and assign a completion date for each step.

Length: 1 – 2 pages

  1. The team members will be expected to have fun.
