: Sam, I really could go off on a tangent(a good one) about religion but I don't think that's what kind of response you wanted so I won't. Let me just start off though by saying I believe in a God whose totally awesome. I've personally never had a so called "miracle" happen to me but, look around you and I think that( flowers, trees, sky, you) is a good enough miracle for me. Here's my views on existentialism, it's all off our way out thoughts. We have the freedom and knowlege to search above and beyond the "normal" It's great isn't it.....Just the power to think and express your thoughts in a world of confusion and relieving and thats what humanities has done for me. It's allowed me to ask my exsistential questions, even though most of the time they are ones that can't be sanswered it just makes you wanna live and find them oput for yourself. I don't judge you by your beliefs nor do I judge people by the color of thery skin. But, here's some food for soul, look around you, your going to find some pretty awsome stuff out there and that is some interesting stuff. Religion doesn't make a person who they are it's their passion in life that does and everyone's passion is different in a way. Find your passion Sam, believe in it because what ever it is someone out there believes in you!
: Throughout the course we have talked about existentialism. By my understanding it is the belief in some type of supreme being. But, for me that is as far as it goes. I am not saying that there isn't a god or that I don't believe in religion. I am just saying that when I was very religious (I was raised in both the Catholic and Methodist churches) I never saw any miracles. When my dad came down with cancer I prayed day and night for him to be alright. Then he died. I was heart broken. All of the things I believed in were put into question. Now I still read the bible but I don't attend church anymore. It just never did anything for me. My belief in God and jesus just isn't strong anymore. There are too many things that I would like to question. Does this make me a bad person?? Some people seem to think so, but I say no. Judging a person on what they believe in is wrong to me. Why, well I can't really explain it. It is just what I have grown up to believe. And I guess it comes from having two diffent religions when I was growing up.
