I also think Harris was right, that although the counter-culture and its 'Consciousness III' may have some good points, without a Messiah and everyone working together (which isn't the true goal of a counter-culture) this kind of thing will never be realized. As Harris states in my favorite sentence of the whole book:
"The excercise of the freedom of belief in the laboratory could only be a temprorary inconvinience until the charred remains of superconsious experimenters were swetp out along with the rubble they created."
We need openminded and clearminded people to change the world.
