I just wanted to spark some of my thoughts and comments on the question from THE BIG CHILL, "Does money really make you free or does it give you a key to form a prison? I truly believe that ultimately money just forms a prison for you. Maybe at first, when the money is rolling in you have the freedom to buy what you want but then you start to want bigger and better things and you still feel that need or want that you felt when you were poor just on a higher scale, but the same feeling is still there. So basically the money got you no where, just greedier.

Also, along with this, I think once you have money you start to accumulate material possessions, you decide to buy a house, maybe with the more money you are able to have children now, and you begin to settle with all of these valuable objects below you that you have to take care. THis means more responsibility because you have more things that have to be taken into consideration when you make decisions. This consideration might make a person feel less likely to go out and do what he/she believes or do what your heart tells you. I think this happens to everyone, but to different extremes. And this is where the prison of money begins. You can't just do what you feel anyomore, or you can but you won't go to the extremes you would have when you were poor and had nothing to lose in the situation.

I think in response to the movie this is exactly what happened to most of them, but on different extremes. I also think that the ones who were happy were a type of "settled" and content type of happiness. It wasn't to the degree that it could have been.

I think this can also be seen when middle-aged people decide to get divorced when their children are grown up and they become single again. There are many people I know who have been in this situation and have ridden themself of that prison of money and responsibilities and they are rejuvinated and filled with and excited happiness (this would take a while of course)of feeling free to do whatever they want. Doing whatever makes their heart complete to the fullest. They feel they can act on whatever they feel need be without feeling too awful about involving others on their decision. With this I do believe that excessive money can become a great prison which is hard to excape. Thanks.
