: In response to the existance of "natural highs," I myself experienced one my sophomore year of high school, when I went to Cancun. The first thing I noticed when we arrived at our hotel was a sign hanging up in the lobby that read, "Parasailing is VERY dangerous and we DO NOT recommend it!!" Well, maybe it was the "danger" part of it that enticed me, because the first thing I did was exchange some travelers checks and run out to the beach where the parasailing was taking place. My parents followed me down there, scouring the whole way, because they knew when I set my mind to something, there was no stopping me. I got there and handed the man my money, they strapped me up in seconds flat, and before I knew it, signaled the boat and it took off, with me screaming all the way up. When I finally reached maximum height, I took it upon myself to take a chance and open my eyes. The view was breathtaking. You could see all of Cancun, the ocean, and beyond. I knew no drugs or altered state of mind could ever top this. I wished I had had my camera with me, because I couldn't believe I was having this wonderful experience alone. Drugs can heighten your senses and many times make things more enjoyable, but there are some things that can't be topped. This is what I call a "natural high."
