We provide advising to both current and prospective students. In SBE, freshmen are assigned to professional staff advisors in the Student Affairs Office while sophomores, juniors, and seniors are assigned to faculty advisors in their area of interest. We encourage students to meet with their advisor to begin establishing the advisee-advisor relationship. In Student Affairs, we provide advisement for academic and developmental support, registration issues, degree progress questions, clarifying degree requirements, and explaining how our candidacy system works.

There are a number of tools which aid the advisement process. We use the UMD General Bulletin, the the Class Schedule, an APAS report, the liberal education handout, and our degree worksheets.
