Locating an Internship
Students are responsible for finding internships. Here are some sources that
can assist in this:
- Use contacts in your community. For example, parents or relatives may
work for companies that offer computer science internships.
- Check the
Computer Science Local Jobs and Announcements page maintained by the
UMD Computer Science Department.
- For local internships in the Twin Ports area, see this List of Local Company
Websites and contact any company's Director of Human Resources.
- For regional internships throughout Minnesota and northern Wisconsin,
see this List of Regional Company
Websites and contact any company's Director of Human Resources.
- Monitor your UMD email account for job-related messages circulated to
students.
Students must choose internships in which
the employer provides the training and
guidance necessary for the student to perform the job. The CS department is
involved in the internship only to the extent of providing assistance in
locating an internship and in providing academic credit for the internship.
