The following are expectations for this course:

  1. Attendance is mandatory, please be on-time and present for every class.
  2. All assignments are due in hard copy at the beginning of the class on the due date. Late assignments will be given a reduced grade of 10% off each day and the instructor will not accept any work after the 3rd day late. This special education unit will compose 25% of your final grade. This grade must be C- or better in order to receive credit for this entire course. All requirements for this unit must be complete in order to receive your final course grade for EdSe 3204.
  3. Professional conduct is expected at all times. You are in training to be a teacher and consequently need to exhibit professional behaviors and attitudes.

 

Point values for assignments:

 

  1. Observation Form = 25 pts. Due 12/12/08
  2. Interviews = 50pts total Due 12/12/08
  3. IEP = 25 pts. Due 10/27/08
  4. Group Presentations = 50 pts.

Total = 150 pts.

Course Outcomes

 

1. Create effective and supportive learning environments based on an understanding of student diversity and effective instructional practices.

2. Design instruction and assessment based on an understanding of students, their needs, and professional educational standards.

3. Plan and teach effective lessons using (a) a variety of teaching methods & (b) Using technology as a tool to enhance teaching and learning

4. Model the characteristics of an intentional and professional teacher. In particular, engage in an ongoing process of reflection about their own teaching and the teaching of others, supporting their constructive critiques with reference to principles from this course, from supplementary readings, and from field observations.
