TravelTimeMetroTC: Travel Time Computation Software For Twin Cities' Freeways:Release Date: Feb 10, 2008

This software is used to compute the past travel times of metro freeways in Twin Cities, Minnesota. Installation is simply done by double clicking on the downloaded file. To use this softwar, you need to download the traffic data in *.traffic format provided by TDRL (link for *.traffic data), after installing the software. A brief manual on how to use can be viewed by clicking on the help button within the software. For visual identification of corridors and stations, a GPS map of station locations is provided inside the software.  This version provides limited imputation for small chunk of missing traffic data. If a large chunk of data is missing, it will not able to produce travel time. Travel time is produced by first estimating speed using volume and occupancy and then computing link travel times using the distance derived from GPS coordinates.

TDRL Software Development Kit: TDRL_SDK V1, Release Date: July 11, 2006

TDRL_SDK is a software development package that includes dll, examples, and documentations for writing software that requires direct retrieval of  30 second volume and occupancy data from *.traffic files. The dll file was created for MS .NET VS, and should work for both VS 2003 and 2005. The package is simple to use, and plenty of examples are provided. We hope this package would help researchers and application developers utilize the huge collection of  *.traffic data files. This SDK was written using Inner Media Dynazip Max zip/unzip tool. If the given examples give exception errors, it is likely due to the license problem. Please download the evaluation version and install it on your computer, the link for the download is http://www.innermedia.com/dz/evaluation.html. If you wish to receive the source code, please write to Prof. Taek Kwon at tkwon@d.umn.edu and tell what purpose or project you are doing and why you need the source code.  He would then evaluate the needs case by case and provide the source code.

DetExtractorV3.5, Release Date: Sep 9, 2005

This is the newest verion for the DetExtractor utility software that was developed for Mn/DOT's *.traffic RTMC files. This version corrects the problems associated with new file order in RTMC data files (April, 2005). All parts have been tested and released as a production version as of Sep 9, 2005.

Download link: DetExtractorV3.5 Installation File

This software has been evolved from a simple detector data extraction (unzipping from .traffic file) and graphics tool to a sophisticated detector diagnostic tool. The graphic tools include (1) vol/occ scatter plot, (2) vol/occ line plot, (3) vol/occ histogram plot. Rich graphic tools within each graph are provided, which include scaling, putting titles and legends, colors, zooming, shifting, rotation, etc. The 3D option allows 3D rendering as well. It can plot unlimited number of graphs on your screen as long as you have enough screen area. The data can be selected between any period within the day specified by the .traffic file by selecting the starting and ending time of the plot. Data types can be instantly converted to 30sec, 1min, 2min, 3min, 5min, 10min, 15min, 30min, or 1hour. Although you can use this software for any resolution, Screen resolution of 1024*768 or above is recommended. The main revision since Rev 3.4 has been integration of complex loop-detector diagnositic algorithms as a utility routine. The user manual describes the details, but if anyone is interested, we will share our algorithm upon request.

DailyTraffAnal V1.2 (Short Duration Count Daily Traffic Plot and Analysis Tool), Revised on Jan 26, 2003

Download file: DailyTraffAnal Installation File (exe) or DailyTraffAnal Installation File (msi)

This version improves the previous version in several ways. It now provides Peak Daily Traffic Count, and Standard Deviations for averages. The interface was simplified to make it easy to use. Double click on the list plots the daily traffic for the year. Single click will show the summaries of the statistics of the selected station on the textbox. The list box and combo box now work in a proper coordination. Upon installation, it will automatically load the daily binary data for 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2002 to the installation directory. These were computed using a new corrected detector list provided by Mn/DOT. The data format has been changed, so that the old format will not work. You must used the new data that comes with this software. As in the previous version, it produces a physical file for ADTSampleyyyy.txt in the installation directory, which can be displayed on a notepad using the button provided. The new data with new formats are (This format is robust and will likely adopted for all future versions.): sta1999.days , sta2000.days , sta2001.days , sta2002.days , sta2003.days .
