Wild Ones® Minnesota Arrowhead Chapter
Brief history:  Following two months of organizational meetings, the Minnesota "Arrowhead Chapter" received formal recognition in August 2000 and has been growing ever since.  Currently we have 35 members.

Meeting schedule: The chapter generally meets at 7:00 PM on the fourth Wednesday of the month at the environmentally friendly Hartley Nature Center building located just off Woodland Avenue in Duluth (please see link below.) Our programs are a part of Hartley Nature Center's weekly adult educational opportunities . Beginning in May 2006, we will continue to meet on Wednesday but will have outings and community garden maintenance gatherings (that are really fun!) instead of programs.

Occasional  field trips, work sessions, or potlucks may be scheduled at other times. Officers and Volunteers:
  • President: Carol Andrews
  • Vice-president/ Program Coordinator: Trish Stinnett
  • Secretary: Joy Turnbull Dunham
  • Treasurer: Jen Jones
  • Membership Chair: Open
  • Community Garden Maintenance Coordinators: Evelyn & Alden
  • Plant Rescue Coordinator (aka "Dig Chair"): Erik Hahn
  • Web Masters: Roger Petry and Bill Steele
  • A big thank-you to our out-going officers for their dedicated service!

Mission statement: Our mission is to educate and to share information on the benefits of preserving and landscaping with native plants in order to promote biodiversity, environmentally sound practices, and a sense of place by featuring the plants that make the Minnesota Arrowhead region the beautiful place that it is.

Activities: The chapter frequently takes field trips including native plant identification hikes, tours of native plant nurseries, and demonstration "show me, help me" sessions at members' homes.  The chapter maintains a demonstration native plant garden in Leif Erikson Park in Duluth.
