Booming Native Plants; Milwaukee Audubon Natural Landscaping Conference
Wed, 07 Feb 2001 22:59:49
Two things -
1) The good news: there is a conference coming up in Milwaukee on natural
landscaping that looks quite good (see below for agenda); the bad news is
that it's this weekend (Feb. 10). Just in case any one will benefit from
the info, I'm passing it along.
2) The REALLY EXCITING NEWS: I spoke last week to the folks that are now
running a nursery near Duluth that grows native plants. It's called Booming
Native Plants, and is located in Barnum. Paula and Sara said that they have
fields and fields of native plants that they will be collecting seed from,
and some seed in stock. Wild Ones would be more than welcome to come see
the place anytime. >>> PLEASE NOTE: If people are interested in ordering
plant plugs from them, they need to receive orders ASAP to get them started.
They don't have a list of available plants yet, so you need to ask if they
have what you're looking for. The cost is $50/flat with 100 plugs
(seedlings) per flat. Their phone number is 218-389-3220. Their address is
2323 Co. Rd. 6, Barnum, MN 55707. If you would like to order from them, you
could call them directly, or contact me if you might want coordinate an
order with others (e.g., you have a small yard and may not need 100 of the
same plant). If others have comments or advice on this, feel free to share
it. THANKS!
Carol A.
