Hello Wild Ones,
Please note: This update email has three parts.
A. July 1 and 8 trips to Leaning Pine and Amnicon State Park
Thanks to all of you that replied to my informal survey regarding a trip to
Paul Hlina's Leaning Pine nursery and Amnicon.
I received emails from 15 people expressing interest in the trip, but there
was a pretty even split between those that could go on July 1st and 8th. When
I said this made it a hard decision, Shirl Leslie made a good suggestion: we
could go both dates! So here's my suggested plan:
Friday July 1 meet at Leaning Pine at approx 9:30 AM. Those of us leaving from
Duluth will carpool, meeting at 8:50 AM at ... let's say to park on London
Road across from First Lutheran Church near our Community Garden at Leif Erikson
Park. I expect that we will return by 12:30.
Friday July 8 will be an afternoon trip. Meet at Leaning Pine at approx 1:00
PM. Those leaving from Duluth can carpool, meeting at 12:20 from London Road
across from First Lutheran Church near our Community Garden at Leif Erikson
Park. I expect that you will be back by around 4:00 or 5:00 at the latest is
you hike a long time.
I will go on the 1st and serve as group leader. Would anyone else be willing
to be group leader on July 8th? This would entail meeting the carpoolers in
Duluth, coordinating moving from Paul's to Amnicon and choosing the hike and
just generally helping people get there and back.
Kate Sisco - I'd be happy to give you a ride if you go on July 1 and I'm sure
someone else could take you if you want to go on the 8th. Can you meet us at
the carpool site?
B. Seed Starting Class
Mary Dragich provides the following info about a class that looks really fun:

The basics of how to get started seed saving, with time for questions and answers.
This class will be
held at WLSSD, 27th Ave. West and Courtland Street.
Here's general and registration info. There are three other classes but I
thought WO folks might be interested in the seed saving class in particular.
