I thought I'd send this link along as some of you may find the Twin
Cities Wild Ones chapter newsletter of interest (there are some good
lists of recommended books, an article on wild ginger, a list of
"gardening things to do for Feb - March," etc.). Feel free to forward
it to friends in the Twin Cities area that may be interested in their
programs and/or joining that chapter too.
ARROWHEAD CHAPTER PLANNING - TIME FOR MORE INPUT!
This reminds me also - it's probably time to start working on our next
newsletter and finish program plans for March - August. If you either
have suggestions for a program (presenter, topic, project, ...) OR would
like to put on the list of possible yards to visit for a "show me/help
me" day this summer, please let me know. Suggestions for information or
announcements to include in our next newsletter are welcome too (e.g.,
book recommendations...). We have two more indoor programs to schedule
- March and April. Mindy Appold has said she'd be happy to present
again on garden design. Other ideas I've had include asking one of our
local experts on climate change to speak on how global warming may
impact native plant communities of northern MN (I think we have at least
2 members that are very knowledgeable in this area that I could ask)
and/or invasives control - looking into most recent recommendations for
controlling the three main problem invaders at Hartley Park: tansy, reed
canary grass and buckthorn.
