Wild Ones July 2009 Meeting
WHEN: Wednesday, July 22nd
WHERE: Unitarian-Universalist Congregation of Duluth (UUCD)
AGENDA:
- Tour of the naturally-landscaped "grounds" of the Unitarian-Universalist Congregation of
Duluth (UUCD), of which I am a member.
We have been working on this since our new building
was completed, and are now in our second summer of occupancy. We have developed a
constructed "vernal" pool to replace one that was lost in the construction process, and are
in the process of developing the "outdoor sanctuary" in a largely natural manner. For this
work the congregation was recently awarded an Environmental Stewardship Award in the U.S.
Organization category by the Lake Superior Binational Program for outstanding initiatives
that protect Lake Superior.
We will gather at 6:30 in the UUCD parking lot for a tour of the grounds.
The address is 835 College St., and is on the right about half-way between the W. edge of
UMD and St. Scholastica (or Kenwood Avenue). You can't miss it; the building is literally
green, as well as environmentally green.
There are two entrances, and if you miss the first one (just over a hill on College St.),
keep on going until you get to the second entrance, by the pond. I have reserved a space in
the building where we can gather for refreshments and a meeting.
