This grant enabled the learning of the Final Cut Pro video editing software and the editing of scenes from my production of The Bacchae, produced by UMD Theatre in January 2001
Internal Diversity Grant $8,442.00
This grant brought Migdalia Cruz of the U.S. and Estella Lenero Franco of Mexico to U.M.D. (April 16-22, 2001) for a series of workshops and a public presentation concerning the new play they are writing together, Primer Contacto (First Contact). A workshop of the play scheduled for sometime in the near future, contingent upon the availability of funding.

External U. S. - Mexico Fund For Culture $10,000.00
This award was granted for production costs for Cloud Tectonics by Jose Rivera in Mexico City in April of 1999. The binational grant is funded by the Rockefeller Foundation, The Bancomer Foundation, and Mexico’s National Fund For Culture and the Arts.
Internal Diversity Grant $3,250.00
For a week long visit by Otto Minera April 23-30,1998. Mr. Minera and myself conducted a bilingual workshop/reading of Cloud Tectonics/La Tectonica De Las Nubes by Jose Rivera, presented a public lecture concerning the state of theater in Mexico, and taught in a variety of classroom settings. The workshop allowed Mr. Minera and myself to work on the translation of the play in preparation for its’production in Mexico City in the Spring of 1999.
Internal Single Quarter Leave Spring 1999
Leave to pursue directing Cloud Tectonics by Jose Rivera at the Centro Hellenico Teatro in Mexico City. The production was the first production in Mexico for Mr. Rivera and included a residency by the playwright. The production brought together artists from around North America.
Internal University of Minnesota Grant-in-Aid of Research, Artistry and Scholarship $1,200.00
For travel expenses incurred conducting a workshop/reading of the translation of Cloud Tectonics by Jose Rivera in Los Angeles, California in August 23-30,1998. This workshop included meetings between the playwright, translator, and director concerning the translation of the play and the nature of the production scheduled for Spring 1999. The visit culminated in a reading of the play using professional actors. The workshop/reading was supported in part by the Mark Taper Forum.
