Bulldogs Behind the Scenes: Romano Gymnasium

Join us on Tuesday, October 20 from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. (CT) via Zoom.

Join former UMD Bulldog Basketball Head Coaches and current athletic administrators, Karen Stromme and Gary Holquist in a Virtual Bulldogs Behind the Scenes tour of Romano Gymnasium exploring recent renovations including historical perspectives.

Romano Gymnasium has been the home of Bulldog Men’s and Women’s Basketball and Volleyball for over a half-century. The historic facility opened December 12, 1953 and underwent a renovation in 1986 as well as a significant remodel throughout 2019-2020. Romano Gymnasium is the largest indoor gathering space on the UMD campus and one of the larger venues in Northern Minnesota. The space is a highly visible area of campus that is seen by all students, University employees, and community. It is often looked at as the “front porch” of the institution. Romano Gymnasium is much more than an athletic team space, event space, and teaching space - it is a community space.

Virtual Bulldogs Behind the Scenes tours are open to all alumni and friends. These events are family friendly. Registration is free. The virtual tour will be recorded live and uploaded to YouTube for later viewing. *Registered guests will receive a link to join the Zoom webinar from Alumni Relations.*
