Popular Culture in the 1960s

A COURSE PAGE FOR CST 3010

The 1960's are often described as a period which produced profound changes in European and American Culture, and subsequently throughout the world. What is interesting about these perceptions is that increasingly many recognize that these "revolutionary" times were part of a continuing tradition of tension between the generations that seems typical of the emergence of the "modern world."

The purpose of this class is to explore the ideas that were at the center of the sixties counter-culture to discover their connections to the long history of such ideas in human experience.
