HmCl 3230 - Utopian Visions - Final Exam Instructions - Spring 1997

The final take home examination will require that you integrate a variety of course materials into an essay that presents and discusses your views about utopian images. It is to be based exclusively on course materials (readings, lectures, media presentations, discussion) and should indicate accurate knowledge and comprehensive familiarity with the course. The course is designed to provide you with a great deal of material from which you can select evidence to support your independent conclusions about the following question:

The final essay will be a "take-home exam." It should be typed and carefully proofread. Begin it with a "Thesis Paragraph" that tells what you are going to prove and provides any important definitions. Then, using references and quotations and paraphrases from class readings, lectures, slides and video, give proofs for your view. You will have great latitude in what you say, how you prove it, what your opinion is--but remember your essay is an exam, testing your understanding and your ability to blend a variety of sources--films, writings, novels, etc.--into a rational argument. There is no prescribed length, but most will need a minimum three typed (double-spaced) pages to write their essay.

FINAL TAKE HOME EXAM WILL BE DUE WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 24, BY 12:00 P.M.
