To reduce the quantity and improve the quality of storm water runoff, UMD has developed a Storm Water Pollution Prevention Program (SWPPP). The SWPPP is legally approved by the Minnesota pollution Control Agency, acting on behalf of the U.S. Environmental Protection agency to enforce the federal Clean Water Act.

Resources for construction and inspection can be found here. Resources include requirements, inspection forms, documents, and more.

One of the goals of UMD’s storm water pollution prevention program is to look for ways to improve the quality of storm water leaving the campus. Installing a rain garden was our first choice for improving storm water from UMD’s largest parking lot.

Many resources including those for local, state, and national levels can be found on this page.
