Moving through the seasons of change
Business hours are reduced during distance learning and through the summer, 9am-3pm M-F.
Important Notice for Counseling Appointments
In line with steps the University has taken to reduce the transmission of COVID - 19, the full spectrum of services UMD Health Services can deliver will look different at this time.
We are now offering Telehealth Counseling Sessions
If you wish to schedule a session please call 218-726-7913 or 218-726-8155 to schedule. Please see the Informed Consent (PDF) or (fillable form) for Telehealth Counseling for more details on this service. You will be given the opportunity to discuss this information with your care provider in your first session.
Wellbeing during this time of change
Please see our UMD Health Services Counseling handout for ways to support wellness
Want some more great ideas? Our colleagues at Morris have developed a helpful handout for tips for wellbeing, too!
After hours and emergency facilities for mental health care
If you are in need of immediate mental health support, or in case of emergency, please contact The Birch Tree Center's Crisis line at 218-623-1800 or go to the emergency room/urgent care at either St. Luke's Hospital or St. Mary's Hospital. If an ambulance is needed, call 911. If the emergency is non-life-threatening and you do not have a means of transportation, call Campus Police at 218-726-7000.
Another option for crisis counseling is The Steve Fund Crisis Text Line. The Steve Fund is a resource developed to provide students of color with mental health support. Text STEVE to 741741 and a live, trained Crisis Counselor will respond. More information is available here.
