We are offering Telehealth Counseling; video or phone sessions with a counselor.

Important Notice for Counseling Appointments

In line with steps the University has taken to reduce the transmission of COVID - 19, the full spectrum of services UMD Health Services can deliver will look different at this time.

We are now offering Telehealth Counseling Sessions

If you wish to schedule a session, please call 218-726-7913 or 218-726-8155.  You will receive information on scheduling and a direct link to access our telehealth consent form online.  You will have the opportunity to discuss this information with your care provider in your first session.

Counseling telehealth appointment hours 

M, T, W, F 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Thur 9:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m..

New self care skills group!  Are you interested in new ideas for coping strategies? Or maybe curious about tools to lower stress?  Campus professionals are providing a small group learning environment to learn science-backed techniques from The Center for Mind-Body Medicine.  R2, Resilience and Renewal, is starting on Tuesday, October 13th from 4:30-6:30pm and will continue for 8 weeks.  To pre-register, email Stacy Crawford, scrawfo2@d.umn.edu by October 7th.

Grief group continues to meet using Zoom on Wednesdays (starting 9/9/20) from 4:00-6:00pm  If you would like to be added to the meeting invite contact the facilitator Barb Titus via email btitus2@d.umn.edu

Let’s Talk Online.  “Let’s Talk” is a program that provides easy access to brief, informal, and confidential consultations with counselors from UMD Health Services.  Drop-in via Zoom for private support and resources – no appointment necessary!! Links for access are recurring.

After hours and emergency facilities for mental health care

For mental health emergencies, please call Birch Tree Center at 218-623-1800.

If you are struggling and want to talk about adjusting to college life, try the U of M Textline. Just text "UMN" to 61222 and a counselor will be there 24/7 to talk, offer suggestions, or provide you with resources that may help—all through texting. It's a free service for UMN students.

If you would prefer to talk on the phone, please call the U of M Crisis Line: 612-301-4673 anytime.

Students can also text MN to 741741 to receive mental health support over the phone, offered through the Minnesota Department of Health.

There are also many helpful online resources that you can access for support.
